Summary

Description
English: A 4-8-4 “Northern” steam locomotive, built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the Great Northern Railway as part of their S-2 class of steam locomotives. The 2584 entered service in 1930, and remained in use by the railroad until it was retired in December 1957. In 1964, the locomotive was taken out of storage to be preserved for display outside the train station in Havre, Montana. The sole surviving engine of its type and the largest surviving steam locomotive used by the Great Northern Railway, today the engine continues to greet passengers and visitors at the train station in Havre.
